Live imaging of wound closure reveal a purse string mechanism
In the latest issue of the Journal of Cell Biology, António Jacinto and his group at CEDOC (FCM, UNL), published a study where they used live imaging to show that an epithelial wound in the Drosophila embryo closes like a purse string, and that this mechanism depends on calcium signalling. The article, of which Marco Antunes is first author, got the cover in JCB!
